Thomas J. Carman
 

Thomas J.9 Carman (John8, John7, Andrew6, John5, Caleb4, John3, Caleb2, John1) was born in Ohio in 1841; died 6 February 1863 at Columbus, Fayette County, Kentucky. He was married to Mary E. Alridge.

Thomas served in the Civil War as a 5th Sergeant, Iowa 29th Infantry, enlisting at Mt Ayr, Iowa on August 9, 1862 at the age of 21.  On November 18, 1862 he was mustered into Company G. He died of disease less than three moths later (the biggest killer of the Civil War) while at Columbus, Fayette County, Kentucky.
