Thomas5, John4

Thomas5 Carman (John4, John3, John2, John1) was born about 1721 at Hempstead, Queens County, New York and died in Hempstead in 1759. He married about 1744, for in the records of St. George's Episcopal Church in Hempstead is recorded his baptism along with his wife's in that year on the first of May. His wife's name is only known by here married as Ruth Carman and no maiden name is given. Thomas died fairly young and it is supposed that she is the same Ruth Carman, now widow, who married Joseph Bedell at St. George's Church in 1761.

Here is another one of those twisty little things that can give you a headache - Thomas and Ruth Carman have their children christened at St. George's Church on the same date that John and Anna (Pierson) Dorlon have their son John christened.  They have another son Joseph Dorlon who marries Elizabeth Rock Smith and their daughter Elizabeth Dorlan married James Raynor Carman, son of Stephen and Sarah (Raynor) Carman.  Elizabeth Rock Smith remarries after Joseph Dorlon dies, to..... Stephen Carman who was married four times, first marrying Anna Rock Smith after Sarah Raynor died and then marring widow Elizabeth Rock Smith, widow of Joseph Dorlon after Anna dies.
