Stephen7, Adam6

Stephen7 Carman (Adam6, John5, John4, John3, John2, John1) was born in 1789 in Hick's Neck, Queens, New York, which would later become part of the the town of Baldwin.  He was baptized, along with his father, brothers and sisters on 23 April 1795 at St. George's Church in Hempstead. He married about 1820 to Miss Margaret Smith, born 1789 in Hempstead, Queens, New York, died 1 June 1842 in Hick's Neck, Queens, New York, daughter of Thomas Smith.  Life in Hick's Neck was rather laid back, simple and rural. Stephen was undoubtedly a farmer and, as almost all did from the south of Long Island, engaged in fishing and other endeavors on the water.  Stephen died in Hick's Neck on 25 August 1845.

There is some circumstantial evidence that may make Stephen a father by an earlier relationship. Stephen did not marry Margaret Smith until he was 31 years old and that is a long time for early 1800's.  Arguments about it will be under the child's webpage.
