Solomon9 Carman (Libni8, Adam7, Jacob6, Adam5, Benjamin4, Caleb3, John2, John1) was born 28 May 1838 in New York; died 25 September 1912 in Riverton, Fremont County, Iowa; and is buried in the Riverton Town Cemetery. He married on 25 March 1860 at Rock Port Atchison County, Missouri to Martha Elliot, born 1857 in Indiana; died 23 November 1901; and is buried with her husband in the Riverton Town Cemetery. Solomon served in the Civil War with Company E, 29th Iowa Voluntary Infantry. He was wounded at the Battle of Sabine River, Jenkins Ferry, Arkansas on 30 April 1864 by a gunshot wound to the leg just above the ankle. Not being able to travel on his own, his was taken prisoner and held at Camden, Arkansas, later transferred to Tyler, Texas. He was paroled at the mouth of the Red River on 26 February 1865.
