Ruth⁶ Drake (Amy Carman⁵, William⁴, John³, Caleb², John¹) was born 11 September 1761; died about 1783.  She married John Sloat, born 1754, died 1781; son of Stephen and Martha (Van Dusen) Sloat.

John Sloat was a Captain in the American Revolution with the New York State (Cornwall) Militia.  He was accidentally and fatally shot at his own home when the musket of a sentry went off on his doorstep.  Ruth died within two years of her husband and their two children were orphaned and left to be raised by Ruth's parents.
