Melancthon Freeman⁷ Carman (Phineas⁶, Stephen⁵, Richard⁴, Samuel³, John², John¹) was born 1 February 1807 at New Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey. He died 4 February 1884 at Menlo Park, Middlesex, New Jersey. He married 10 April 1833 at Metuchen, Middlesex, New Jersey, Ann Maria Ayres, born 8 May 1813 in New Jersey, she died 12 January 1893 at Menlo Park, Middlesex, New Jersey. daughter of Ezra and Jane (Lott) Ayres, and granddaughter of Ellis Ayers who was a Minute Man from Middlesex County during the Revolutionary War.
