Joshua 2

Joshua Carman, youngest son of John and Florence Carman, was born in Hempstead, Long Island in 1646.  He was most likely the child that was accredited with being born "blind".  As there is a genetic trait in some of the family toward deaf-mutes (two of his grand-nephews were such afflicted), this is more likely his affliction, rather than blindness.  Add to the facts that his brother John charges two of his sons to care of his brother Joshua's estate for him, it leaves little doubt that Joshua did have an affliction of some sort.  He could possibly have been blind, but the genetic evidence is otherwise.

Joshua was not totally helpless. He did marry a woman named Elizabeth (but had no known children). And his brother John's will indicates that Joshua was given his share of his father's estate and therefore was a property owner.

But without offspring, the line of Joshua-2 ends with him.
