John H. Carman

John H. Carman was born 15 July 1801 in Cayuga County, New York, died 28 March 1882 in New Haven Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin and is buried there.  He married on 25 January 1823 in Ulysses, Tompkins County, New York to Julia Anna Labar, born 29 July 1802 in Tompkins County, New York, died 16 September 1885 in New Haven Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin and is buried with her husband.

John remains a "broken branch".  Although family folklore from family members states that John descends from the Carman family of Long Island, his parents have yet to be found.  Too young to serve in the War of 1812, too old to be involved in the Civil War, he has slipped through the radar.  However by 1831 he had migrated with his family to Ohio.  His motivation to move to Wisconsin may simply been to live with his children, most of whom also went even further west.
