John Benjamin7 Carman (Samuel6, Benjamin5, Benjamin4, Caleb3, John2, John1) was born 21 September 1789 in the Township of Hempstead, Queens County, New York. He was christened at St George's Church on 1 April 1790.  He served in the War of 1812 as he made a claim for pension. In 1820 he lived at 5th Ave & 9th St had milk business, kept grocery store & drove a milk cart 1820-1830. On the 1850 Hempstead Census as a farmer. Resided later at Single Pine, Long Island. He died on 11 March 1879 in Rockville Centre, Queens, New York and is buried at the Sandhole Church Cemetery, Lynbrook, Queens, New York.

John married 28 January 1810 in South Hempstead, Queens, New York to Abigail Seaman, daughter of Samuel Seaman and Abigail Hall.  (Abigail's sister Sarah Seaman married Samuel Snedeker, son of Abraham Snedeker and Nancy Carman - Nancy being John Benjamin's sister.) Abigail was born 21 August 1790 in Hempstead Township, died 22 March 1875 in Rockville Centre, and in buried with her husband in Sandhole Cemetery.
