John5, Caleb4
 

John5 Carman (Caleb4, James3, Caleb2, John1) was born 1748 in Bordentown, Burlington, New Jersey and died there on 31 January, 1791.  He married in 1775 at Bordentown, Rachel Flintham, daughter of John Flintham, she was born 12 December 1754 in New Jersey and died in 1847. John and Rachel are both buried in the Old Baptist Cemetery at Bordentown, Burlington, New Jersey.

John by occupation was a farmer and fisherman, but was also active in the American Revolution, a Private in the New Jersey Militia, he helped his father with the the attack on the British boats at Philadelphia. As a result when the British Army came to Bordentown "...he was obliged to fly from the place." - Book No. 24 - "Caleb Carman of Cape May, Bordertown Carmans, Virginia & Kentucky Carmans"
