Three brothers - John Carman, William Arthur Carman and possibly a Matthew Carman. We know from the 1900 census that the parents were both born in Maryland, and guessing from Williams age (known also from the census) they were born about 1800. There are a lot of Thomas names in these branches, so I suspect that the father may be a Thomas Carman, and there are a couple in Maryland, but a generation off, so we are probably missing a middle family. There are also the possibility that they are from a Carman branch arriving later in Maryland than John and Florence. There was a statement made by Robert Carman, son of Andrew and Esther (Sherwood) Carman of Maryland, that their "four fathers were from Wales". And it has been repeated within William's line. But we know that Andrew Carman descends from John and Florence. And while I have Andrew in my sights, my first choice for parents of these three boys is Andrew Carman by his first wife, Mary Davis, his son Thomas Carman born 1782 in Maryland was still fathering children in 1822 in Maryland. So he fits, but there is no proof!
