Ann Carman was born 7 May 1812 at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, died
15 January 1883 also in Poughkeepsie. She married on 28 September 1831 at
Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, John Van Keuren, born 10 September 1821
at New Prospect, New York, son of Abraham and Catherine (Jordan) Van Keuren.
John Van Keuren was a merchant of
Poughkeepsie of the firm "Parmelee, Van Keuren and Co."

Theron
L. Van Keuren - undoubtedly named after his Uncle,
Theron Lawrence Carman, he was born 28 June 1842 at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess
County, New York. He enlisted on 12 May 1861 in Company A, 5th New York
Zouaves to fight in the Civil War. He was
killed at Gaines Mill, Virginia on 27 June
1862. His last words were "Write to my folks, and tell them I died in a good
cause, and believing in Jesus Christ.". His body was never recovered, but his
name appears on the family monument in a rural Poughkeepsie cemetery.
