History is written by the victors, said Napoleon. Much of the South being ravaged during the Civil War, it makes Confederate Army records hard to come by, and many details are lacking. But they do exist, mostly through local State archives, as was the way of the Confederacy (States rights). So I expect it will take some time to find all those that belong on this page. But found they will be.

Caleb Harrison Carman - Pvt, Company F, 61st Mounted Rifles, Tennessee Infantry (taken Prisoner of War near Vicksburg in 1863, you could 'earn' a pardon release in those times by joining the Union Army - he later joined Company A, 8th Tennessee Calvary, which was Union. David Thurmond Carman - Company E, 12th Mississippi Calvary John Edward Carman - unit unknown but definitely was in the war from Tennessee, and later moved to Texas. Simeon Augustus Carman - Company K, 20th Regiment, Tennessee Volunteers (taken Prisoner of War) William Bransford Carman - 7th Battalion, Tennessee Calvary Joel Wyley Woolvin - 10th North Carolina State Troopers Jefferson Franklin Carman - Company A (Chichester's Company), Heavy Artillery Regiment, South Carolina Jesse S. Carman - Company E (Burnside's Company), Third Infantry Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers Samuel Carmon - Sgt, Company E, 56th North Carolina Infantry & 1st North Carolina (wounded twice)
