Caleb3 Carman (Caleb2, John1) was born in 1675 at Jamaica, Queens County, New York and mentioned in his father's will. He married in 1693 at Cape May, Cape May County, New Jersey to Elizabeth Smith. Not much else is known of him, unless he is the Caleb Carman referred to in Virginia Colonial records as Captain of a ship out of Philadelphia. All the children, except Jacob, were christened by Rev. Jedidiah Andrews of the First Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia, and although the good Reverend was known to travel as far north as Staten Island, New York and also into Cape May, the christening notation makes no record of it being performed at any other place than Philadelphia. So there is a good chance Caleb has made his home in Philadelphia as well. Children of Caleb and Elizabeth (Smith) Carman:
