The Bowerman family interaction with the Carman family is in relation to membership in the Society of Friends (Quakers), their pacifist beliefs, and their migration to Canada and more specifically Prince Edward County. As the inter-marriage relationships get a bit confusing without the parent's descendant genealogy, I have added it here for clarification of who was who. Ichadod Bowerman was born about 1721, son of Thomas and Jane (Clefton) Bowerman. He married on 17 November 1759, Jane Richmond, daughter of Cyrus and Phoebe (Mott) Richmond. In 1761 they were listed among the members of the Oswego Society of Friends Monthly Meeting (MM), Dutchess County, New York. By 1772 they were in the in the Beekman's Patent of Dutchess County, New York and in July 0f 1775 he was among 133 people who refused to sign the Articles of Association.
