Joshua5 Carman (John4, Joshua3, John2, John1) was born 8 October 1742 at Beekman, Dutchess, New York, died 20 May 1812 at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess, New York. He married 19 February 1769 at the Dutch Reformed Church, New York, City, New York, New York, Jacobah Van Kleek, born 24 March 1750/51 at Flushing, Queens County, New York, died 27 November 1828 at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, daughter of Baltus and Ann Van Kleek. Joshua served in the American Revolution as Adjutant, 3rd Company, 1st Regiment of the New York Line. By profession he was am merchant. His grandson had in his possession Joshua's sheepskin Masonic apron as he was a member of King Solomon's Lodge in Poughkeepsie in 1774. Both Joshua and Jacobah are buried in the Reformed Dutch Church graveyard at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess, New York. Children of Joshua and Jacobah (Van Kleek) Carman:
